another与the other的区别

another，the other都能表示“另一个”的意思，但涵义和使用场合不同。Another是指不定数目中的“另一个”；the other是指两个人或两样事物中的“另一个”。

例：

Have another piece of cake． 再吃一块饼吧。

One of them is yours；the other is mine． 一个是你的，另一个是我的。

当我们在两样事物中任选一样时，应用one or the other；在三样或三样以上任选一样时，应用 one or other或one or another。

注意：

在someone，somehow，somewhere等字后，只能用other，不能用another。

例如：We'll have to do it somehow or other．

Tips:

1、another可以被看作是an和other两个词的融合。

2、做“另一个”“不同的”解，其后只能跟单数名词。

3、但是，当another作“再”“另外的”时候，可修饰复数名词，这时它后面大都很有few或基数词。

4、other可作形容词和代词，做形容词时，表“别的，其他的”。

5、作代词用时，表示另一个物。其余的人，物；其他的人，物。

6、others前加不加定冠词是根据表达需要。
